What is the Meaning of Life?

Poetry that I wrote back in high school. Nothing major. I just haven't written any poetry in awhile, well, unless you count the sarcastic stuff that I can't show to anyone.

Just for the record, my opinions, hopes, dreams, etc., are just that. They have absolutely no reflection on my employer. Not that I'm going to tell you who that is... I am the (self proclaimed) Queen of the Universe. Join my cadre of loyal subjects and all will be well in your world. My mantra is "Embrace Chaos. Adore Chaos. Give Chaos a big kiss on the mouth." NEW mantra this week - "No one ever suspects the socks." Email me at greenduckiesgirl(at)comcast(dot)net

Missed Opportunities

The power is out
And, instead of being frightened,
I wish you were here.
The chance to spend stolen moments
With you is fleeting at best.
Time goes by so quickly
And I wish I could tell you how I feel.
Maybe in the dark,
I'd be able to reach past my fear
And let you know
How the very thought of you
Makes my breath catch
And my pulse race.
Maybe in the dark,
Your smile would light up the room
And then I would know everything would be okay.
Maybe in the dark,
You would say you cared about me too.

This was at the first call center I worked at, for NABABNA. The power went off one day and I, hopelessly in like with Michael, was wishing he was there. He wasn't.

I eventually wrote him this letter when I found out he was leaving NABABNA, telling him how I felt about him (without using scary stalker terms like "I LUV U" and "Be mine forever or else I will have to tear out my heart and make you eat it"). Needless to say, he did not reciprocate my feelings, sweep me off my feet and carry me off to our castle in the sky. Dang it.
